4 out of 5 stars One minor flaw   September 5, 2008
The lamp is great with one small problem. I wanted this lamp for a drafting table. Naturally, drafting tables tilt. The design on this lamp does not allow you to tilt the table without the lamp pivoting due to gravity. Where the lamp inserts into the clamp to rotate 360 degrees is what is rotating when the table is tilted. So I guess I will have to cut some angled blocks to insert so the lamp is level when the table is not. Other than that, it is a great lamp. I suppose the higher priced models would account for this little problem.

5 out of 5 stars great machine tool light   June 5, 2008

i bought several of these lights because they were just a light, not a magnifier light, and the bargain price was $40 less than the dedicated machine tool lights i had been considering.very well made and rugged.i'm getting more for other machines in my basement shop

5 out of 5 stars great   January 23, 2008

If you need a desk lamp, don't think buying an expensive one will necessarily be better. This one is sufficient--the price is great, if you have money strains. I wanted a swing arm, architect-like lamp so I was going to get one of the expensive ones but this one is fine. (I believe this applies to most of the general public who do normal, everyday work at their desk.) I'm a student--not of architecture--so this was perfect. It looks cool too--very important criteria.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted   January 7, 2008

While shopping for a new desk lamp, I considered several that were 2x-4x the price of this one. Fortunately, I found the Lorell lamp. It is exactly what I wanted ... a metal, adjustable-arm, clamp-on "architect" lamp that puts the light precisely where I want it. I have it mounted to the work table in my office, and with a 23W (100W equivalent) compact fluorescent bulb installed, it provides ample light for any task.
Highly Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Puts the Light Where You Need It   July 7, 2007

I really like a swing arm lamp like this for my desk. You can easily pull it forward to focus the light just where I need it. Then I push it back when light isn't necessary. The base stays put, and just the arm moves and the shade tilts to suit your needs.
Whoever invented this had a great idea.
