Product Description Researchers have discovered that a very specific range of blue light is even more effective than full-spectrum light at treating mood disorders. Apollo has worked with leading experts to develop a new product based on this research, and we're proud to announce the goLITE P1. The goLite is the latest evolution in light therapy with patented BLUEWAVE technology, delivering 100% of the effective bandwidth of light responsible for causing the antidepressant response for those suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder and circadian related disorders. Although the goLite is only 6" X 6" in size, it produces more of the effective bandwidth than most full-size lightboxes. In addition to effectiveness, the goLite's greatest advantage is its compact size - it can go anywhere & be used anytime light is needed. BLUEWAVE technology is so effective that it has been used at NASA to regulate astronaut's and shuttle crews' sleep/wake schedules. BLUEWAVE was also recently recognized at the Society for Research in Biological Rhythms (SRBR) as the most efficient technology for regulating circadian rhythms. ___ Spectral Intensity: ___ ** No harmful UV ** Technology: BlueWave (BLUEWAVE Technology produces the specific bandwidth of light that is responsible for suppressing melatonin and shifting circadian rhythms. 464nm (nanometers) is up to 10 times more effective than other bandwidths.) ** Ocular Safety: ACGIH/ICNRIP Safety Standards ** International AC adapter ** Effective bandwidth: 100% ** Suggested distance 20"-22" ** Adjustable treatment timer ** Automatic shut-down ** Protective front flip cover ** Weighs less than 1 pound ** Remembers personal settings ** UL, CUL, and CE safety listed ** 100% of recommended blue light ** World's smallest light therapy device ** Personalized treatment schedule ** Long lasting eye-safe LEDs ** Anti-glare diffuser lens ** EMF-free ** UV free ** Built in clock ** Backlit digital LCD display ** 2 year limited warranty
Amazon.com Product Description Winter blues got you down? Boost your mood, energy, and sleep with a blue-spectrum light therapy device from Apollo Health. For years the world's leading light therapy researchers and doctors have known that full-spectrum, 10,000 lux light boxes can be very effective at treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and other circadian rhythm related mood disorders. But there is something new in store for light therapy: blue spectrum. If you or a loved one is affected by these type of disorders, the Apollo Health GoLite P1 Blue Spectrum Light Therapy Device may help easy your suffering and improve your life. The GoLite P1 uses blue-spectrum light to boost your mood, energy, and sleep. Detailed view. | This spectral graph shows that Apollo's Bluewave technology precisely matches the wavelengths (446 - 477 nm) that are most effective in treating seasonal disorders. View larger. | Bluewave LED technology produces the same amount of effective light as natural sunlight, eliciting a stronger and quicker response. View larger. | Widely acclaimed as the best-selling, most-recommended manufacturer of 10,000 lux light therapy boxes, Apollo Health has taken a technological step forward with the GoLite P1. Recently, researchers have discovered that a very specific range of blue light is, in fact, the most effective color (wavelength) in treating these disorders. After years of research, Apollo has released this patent-pending product that delivers only the most effective blue spectrum light. Utilizing only the most effective wavelengths, the GoLite P1 provides a more convenient treatment, and fewer side effects than traditional 10,000 lux full-spectrum light therapy devices. The patent-pending Bluewave technology is the result of 10 years of research with medical universities and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Although other companies may tout the benefits of this new research, only Apollo Health participated in the actual trials. In fact, Apollo is the only company to produce lights that provide 100 percent of the effective blue light spectrum. Bluewave is the most important because it provides a higher effective response than most full spectrum light at one-tenth the intensity of a regular 10,000 lux light therapy device. This means light therapy is not only convenient, but easier on the eyes with fewer side effects. Because Bluewave is so effective, all of the Apollo Health Britewave products have also been upgraded with the new technology. It is clear: Bluewave is the light therapy technology of the future. Apollo Health recommends keeping the GoLite P1 at 20-22 inches from your face. Once you are comfortable with using the device, you'll be ready to take advantage of the GoLite P1's fully programmable interface and advanced features. This light therapy device is equipped with an adjustable treatment timer with an automatic shut-down, a protective flip cover, long-lasting eye-safe LEDs, and an anti-glare diffuser lens. After you've established your personalized treatment schedule, the GoLite P1 will remember your personal settings. For your convenience, the GoLite P1 has a built-in clock and a backlit digital LCD display. And as the world's smallest light therapy device, the GoLite P1 weights less than one pound. This device is UL, CUL, and CE safety listed, EMF-free, UV-free, and comes equipped with a two-year limited warranty. The following information regarding the use of GoLite P1 has been provided by Apollo Health: In almost all conditions, less than one hour is sufficient to produce the desired effect. Exceeding one hour may increase the chances of producing too much serotonin. If you begin to feel too energetic, euphoric, agitated, nervous, jittery, etc., you will want to reduce the amount of time. If you are using antidepressant medication, you should discuss this with your doctor, as you may need to reduce the level of medication or the amount of light you receive. Most problems with light therapy happen when light is used for more than an hour. Over the last 20 years, light has been proven to be very safe and effective with no long term side effects or ocular damage. However, just as with other safe medications such as aspirin, too much light can cause problems. If you stay under one hour of light at a time, you shouldn't experience any difficulties. What's in the Box GoLite P1 light therapy device, carrying case, international AC adapter, and warranty.

Is not rechargable without extra battery pack December 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Buyer Beware: Even though this product looks like it is portable, it does NOT come with a rechargable battery. You have to either plug it in every time you use it or pay an extra $40 for an "optional" separate battery pack (directly from the company). The advertising keeps that fact tucked away. It seems to work okay but the fact that the thing is small and "portable" is useless when you need to keep it tethered to an electrical outlet.
Apollo is Over-rated. High on hype, low on product delivery. December 29, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased 5 different brands of Light Therapy devices because the information out there is very little. One of the purchases was the P1. Out of all the brands, Apollo is high on the scale of hype. The box it came in, the advertising and the owners manual are the most extravagant in product promotion and statements about health benefits but I don't think the light box actually delivers anything. The product box is 5 times larger than the light box inside. They have a 5 inch cardboard spacer inside the box to fill in space. The advertisement makes it appear that it is a fully "programmable" device (with a clock on the front). You cannot use it to wake automatically, in fact the clock is a 12 hour clock. The programming is for 3 personal settings, a, b, c, and you can vary the intensity and duration. Good luck. The programmable part is not usable. You try to program it using the instructions and the thing turns itself on. I followed the instructions step by step and it still does not program. It definitely needs better user interface. Portability is good. The blue LEDs are unique to other Light therapy devices but I doubt there is enough intensity to make a difference. If you are tight on space and can find one for less than $60 then I would say its a possible good purchase. Other than that I would say Apollo is good on providing a glossy box but low on a product delivery. Any of the Apollo models that use the blue LEDs and have this type of front interface will likely work same way.

worth the cost November 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Apollo Health GoLite P1 Blue Spectrum Light Therapy Device I live in a northern state of the US. Since we moved here from the sunny south 7 years ago I would start feeling "down" as soon as the season would change, cloudy sky, limited sun. I purchased this lite box and I am very pleased with it. It is small, easy to use and has a padded carrying case. I use it for about 30 mins in the am. My mood is improved and I have energy to do things that I would normally do in the summertime. ( cleaning and organizing ). I would recommend this item to anyone who has some type of winter blues or SAD.
Works for me November 12, 2008 So far so good! I have to get up at 5 am for work and my day from then on was dismal. Now I get up and use my light for a half an hour and I am good to go. It did not make me a morning person, but I am no longer napping at my desk. I get tired around 10pm instead of 3am so it did shift my clock. I would recommend it for anyone who has trouble getting up in the morning.
