I originally had two of these lamps. I ran out of 3-way bulbs so I used a regular bulb in one. No one ever told me this will ruin 3-way lamps & it burned the lamp out. This was my husbands lamp. I've had no trouble with mine, but I've always used 3-way bulbs in it. After looking everywhere, I finally found it at Amazon (True Value) & I reordered one. It's identical to the ones I purchased at least 8 years ago & these new instructions advise against using a regular bulb. The watt advised is 50-100-150. This is great because most lamps advise only to 60 watts & at 55, I see much better with the higher wattage, plus, since they easily mount on the wall, they don't require a night stand like most bedroom lamps do. I'm extremely pleased with the quality & longevity of this product.
