Editorial Reviews:
Product Description 14.4V, 2.6 AH Rechargeable Ni-MH Pod Style Battery #1434.
Amazon.com Product Description Revitalize your older 14.4-volt Makita power tools by installing Makita?s high output 14.4-volt, 2.6 amp hour, Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery No. 193158-3. The Ni-MH Battery can be recharged hundreds of times with literally no memory affect on the battery?s cells. The 193158-3 replaceable battery can be used for all of Makita?s 14.4-volt cordless tools and you will soon discover the NI-MH technology will outlast and outwork your older Ni-Cad batteries by 70% or more. When time is money the longer you can use a tool without having to recharge the battery, the more time you will save on every project. --C. Dwight Barnett

Great Product January 6, 2009 The battery I purchased was delivered earlier than the expected arrival date and worked perfectly.
Very disappointing. December 22, 2008 The two batteries I purchased in 2007 have delivered a very poor performance. One is totally out of order after 22 months and the other provides a very limited capacity. The 3 year warranty mentioned on the Amazon website is totally INCORRECT. When I contacted Makita for a warranty replacement I was informed that whilst the tools were warranted for 3 years, the batteries were only warranted for one year. No way near the quality of the batteries which were supplied with the cordless drill in the first place.
Life could be better December 16, 2008 I love the quality of Makita tools overall and especially the power to weight ratio compared to other Pro tools. BUT, I also have had to replace this battery every 12-18 months, even cycling two batteries with moderate-light use as a homeowner.
Quality NiMH battery November 23, 2008 Have been using this larger 2.6Ah NiMH battery on my Makita cordless trim saw mostly and it has proved itself to be a quality battery with good capacity and run-time. Enough said.
Replacing an old NiCad Battery on a 10 year old Makita drill. November 2, 2008 I purchased this Battery for a 10 year old Makita cordless drill because the NiCad batteries weren't viable anymore. After receiving it from Amazon I wasn't able to charge it in the charger I had with the drill. After some online research I found out you have to have a special charger to charge the NiMh battery. So I purchased the needed charger from Amazon also, however two weeks went by between getting the NiMh battery , having to order the new special charger and receiving the charger to finally use. Amazon Handled it very well and even gave me a $10 credit on account for the inconvenience of of not being informed on "the battery information page" about the need for the special charger.
The NiMh Pod style Battery is excellent, Very powerful , much more than the NiCad battery. The Charger I bought to go with it charges the battery surprisingly quick. I recommend this battery. Be sure to get the recommended battery charger to go with it. So look up your drill model and make sure you have the correct charger before ordering the NiMh battery or order it with the battery. Makita DC1804 7.2-Volt to 18-Volt Pod Style and Stick Style 3 Hour Battery ChargerIts worth it!
