 Lovely glow! December 1, 2007
Originally I had ordered only one of these for some effect and mood lighting on a dining room buffet, but after seeing the beautiful soft amber glow, I immediately ordered a second one--you know, as they say in Feng Shui, gotta have a pair! The color is not as red as depicted in the picture but rather a more amber hue, and with a 15 W bulb casts a lovely, soft, amber-golden glow--exactly the effect I wanted. They are perfect paired with some art glass pieces and are decorator perfect. You can't go wrong with these and I highly recommend them.
Great lamp for bedtime reading June 26, 2007
I bought two of these for my bedroom. Unlike other reviewers, I find this perfect to read by. Most lamps, even with a 40 watt bulb, will keep me awake at night, but the soft light of the Mica lamp doesn't disturb my fiance when I stay up late reading, and vice-versa. I wouldn't study with it or read for long periods, but if you are like me and read before bed to fall asleep, the soft lighting of this lamp should be great. I've had them for 9 months now, and have had no problems. They're beautiful and functional.

I redid my bedroom in soft yellow and sage. As accents I used the Country Lane Amber dresser and armoire as well as the Mica Lamp set, which includes the Shepherd Floor Lamp, Mica torch lamp, accent lamp, as well as the Mission Style Mica Lamp. With the soft orange glow of the lighting with the beautiful furniture my look was complete. As a bonus, I have seen this particular lamp used in several redesign shows!!! It is streamline and classy. I would recommend this set to anyone who is design conscious and looking for warm lighting that makes you feel like you are at home.

I bought two of these lamps about a year ago for my bedside tables. The mica shade emits a nice, warm, glowing light. It doesn't bother my husband as he sleeps yet it gives me plenty of light to read by. If bright, bold lighting is what you're looking for, then these are not for you. However, they are great for watching TV by and reading in bed. I believe the maximum wattage of bulb you can use is 40, so that gives you some idea of just how bright they're going to be.
