It's made from rust-resistant cast aluminum and require no wire splicing: just use the quick-connect connectors to join the address light's wires with the lantern wires. Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent replacement for vintage address post!   November 19, 2008
We purchased this item to replace a very old lighted address sign on a lantern post in our front yard. The old sign had a light enclosed in a plastic frame. The address numbers had been created using strips of what looks like electrical tape. It was not fancy by any means.
We were not sure this replacement would work, but to our delight it is perfect! I applied the vinyl address numbers to the solid (very sturdy)metal sign while my husband took the old sign off (power was cut, of course). It was SO EASY to apply the numbers in a straight line because there was a slight rasied line in the metal to use as a guide.
After I applied the numbers, it only took a simple twist of some electrical end caps and the turn of a few screws to get the sign installed. We checked on the sign after dark and saw that it was bright and readable from the street.
In all - we spent less than an hour on the entire project.
I am very happy with this sign.
* side note * the way our lantern is wired, the address numbers are controled by a solar sensor and the lantern on top of the post is controled by a switch inside the house.
