Self Installed with Excellent Advice from Company October 14, 2008 I am afraid of electricity, but was able to correctly install this switch without hiring an electrician. After turning off the power to the old switch at the circuit breaker, I opened the switch and saw that the instructions referenced different colored wires than what I saw. I went to the website for further instructions, then called the support number. A very nice man listened to the description, then told me how to connect the switch, properly.
It was easy to set the time, to program the on/off settings, and to operate manually. It has been controlling one light with two CFLs in it for about a week. No problems. Lights come on at 5:30pm and turn off at 10:30pm, just like we want.
Best Timer I've Found October 14, 2008 I have used Intermatic and Leviton wall switch timers. This one is the easiest to use and the most reliable. I installed it to turn my pool light and outdoor cage rope lighting on for my lanai nearly two years ago. It has worked flawlessly ever since.
The Best. Forget Home Depot and Lowes October 5, 2008 I bought and installed this timer switch about 6 months ago. It worked immediately and still works great. This device uses a modern engineered design, unlike the old reworked junk found in the big box stores. It has a simple interface with just enough features. The best two features (not found in other brands)are a battery backup and the ability to use compact fluorescent bulbs.
Good product for CFL control September 19, 2008 The Swylite LST100 solved my problem--a security porch light that had a 100watt equivalent CFL light in it. The device works flawlessly and reliably. It is easy to set if you have the instructions--and if you lose them, like I did they can be downloaded on their website (I traced the brand by my Amazon account history). In short, I'm very happy with the unit. Does the job competently and reliably.
I have 4, still going strong after 2 yrs! September 4, 2008 These timers have been a godsend. I installed them to operate the switches that control all of the outside lights (we have 4 of them). The lights go on automatically at night and are off when I wake up. No forgetting to turn them off in the morning, and there's extra security that the other neighbors on the block don't have. Their lights are always off at night, mine are always on, if you were a criminal, which house would you go to? I also installed 35w GE compact fluorescents in each of the sockets with no trouble at all. The only thing that I'd like to have is an automatic daylight savings correction so that I don't have to reprogram the timers every 6 months. oh, well. if that's the only thing, then I think I did pretty good!
